The privilege and responsibility of dreamers

It’s been on my heart to get started on this adventure of travel and writing and documenting and all the things. But I’ve been stuck.

Not only by the work and decisions of:

What should I call it? Do I have enough pictures/videos for a quality story? What should the brand/logo look like? Where should I host it? What theme should I buy? Will anyone care? As a marketer these are instincts when starting a project…more on that another time.

More paralyzing is:

How can I share magical moments of beautiful places, cultures, seasons, and events when so much of the world is in pain?

How can I plan a three-month trip to New England to see real fall foliage for the first time while Russia is invading Ukraine? While women are protesting in Iran? While fentanyl and the opioid crisis are taking so many lives daily?

I feel guilty and sad about it. I imagine I’m not alone.

So should I give up on this lasting calling, the pull towards exploration? Or should I listen to the still small voice that says just start?

I guess the right answer will appear in time, but today I’m making the decision to just start as simply as can be. If things get more formal in time, awesome!

For comedic relief, I DID create a first draft of a logo and Orlando (my husband if you don’t know) told me it looked like a LIVE LAUGH LOVE sign. So that’s a no lol.

And instead of starting off with NYC, DC, or lobsta in New England—let’s start with today in FL as we watch Jim Cantore of the Weather Channel update us Hurricane Ian evacuees from downtown Punta Gorda.
